“Claire’s art is a genuine exploration into the subconscious through observation of the world around us, inspired by nature and psychology, with saturated color and living brush stokes. Her paintings capture light like an impressionist, evoked from the imagination of a surrealist.”

Artist Statement:

“Most of my art depicts the place in the world I love the most: the gorgeous desert vistas of New Mexico and the Southwest. I seek to represent not how a place looks, but how it feels on a visceral level. My work reflects the emotion a scene inspires in me: the joyful, warm intensity of the way the sun sets over the mountains, the comfort of being snuggled next to a warm kiva fireplace, or the bliss that runs down my spine as the sun’s rays met my eyes just so – and my intention is to communicate those feelings to the viewer.

All of my paintings are basically love letters to this amazing landscape, expressions of what cannot be communicated in words. If I can – even slightly – express the radiance and love I feel in these moments, and bring others joy and inspiration, too, that is what I came here to do. My work brings warmth, peace, and light into the home of every collector.

I heighten and distort reality to create a more interesting and beautiful world in my work – limitless and full of colorful opportunities. My imagination leads me down “rabbit holes” – urging me to dive so deeply into the grainy reality of a scene, that I start to unearth the stark and undeniable magic that is there underneath it all. I seek to refine an image and reflect back what is most mysterious, delightful, and poetic about that particular scene or moment in time.

This creates paintings for viewers to escape into – but I also hope that it communicates to people on a deeper – even subliminal, level: we can create a more beautiful, humane, and magical world if we focus on that vision and take action to manifest it.”

“Claire Boyce puts deep emotions in every stroke. I love the way her work makes me feel … there’s an understanding in the colors and [the] point of view.”
